E17 Art Trail Festival Assistant

Artillery is seeking a Festival Assistant to join our small team and support our creative network in preparing for the E17 Art Trail in 2021. The Festival Assistant will support Artillery in our preparation and delivery of the E17 Art Trail festival, and preparation for the Walthamstow Garden Party 2022. As part of a small team you will assist with creating digital content for social platforms and websites, and the practical delivery of festival production, including assisting with logistics of circulating print materials, assisting at events, and documenting activities. You will join us in developing new approaches to delivering inclusive co-created cultural programmes in non-art spaces under Covid restrictions. We look forward to the candidate bringing their own insights into reaching diverse audiences.

Artillery is a creative micro-business, led by Co-Directors, Laura Kerry and Morag McGuire based in Waltham Forest. We are a grassroots arts development organisation. We specialise in creative project management combining event production in non-arts spaces with artists mentoring and community development.

Our place-based co-created cultural programmes support and mentor artists and residents to successfully realise their creative ideas and public interventions for parks, streets, workplaces, learning settings and high streets. Our projects mobilise creativity in neighbourhoods bringing people together

across generations and cultures. We create supportive spaces for people to explore and question collective and personal stories. As creative changemakers residents grow in confidence to address crises collectively at a local level incl. isolation, social cohesion, inequalities, lack of cultural democracy, climate emergency.

Our inclusive approach results in every contributor - whether established artists, local businesses, community groups and neighbours to rightfully claim a stake in a project’s achievements.

You must be aged 16-24 years old, and unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

The role also asks that you have an interest in:

  • Graphic design and/or illustration for digital content
  • Shares information clearly and accurately
  • Great collaborator, happy to work independently
  • Willing to act on recommendations from colleagues and offer contrustive feedback

As part of a small team, you will assist with creating digital content for social platforms and websites, and the practical delivery of festival production, including assisting with logistics of circulating print materials, assisting at events, and documenting activities.

This includes and not limited to:

  • Creating graphic design and/or illustration for digital content
  • Web content editing using WordPress Generating social media content using marketing assets, contributors visuals and content
  • Event Front of House support,
  • Event production support,

This programme is being delivered as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.

To be eligible to apply you must be aged 18 – 24 and claiming universal credit.
