The role will require work directly with the Head of Communications assisting in all press and communications for Dogwoof and Dogwoof Sales.

Other elements that make working at Dogwoof rewarding include assisting in acquisitions by watching films in varying stages of production and providing considered and constructive feedback. Pitching ideas for films. Interacting with filmmakers and other industry professionals; building a film and TV network.

The role will also work closely with the marketing and social media teams providing them with quotes and information on releases and upcoming coverage.

Reporting will be direct to the Head of Communications and office attendance will be required in the office at least 8 days per month in line with the Head of Communications. These days will be set out on 3 month blocks but there will be flexibility especially in times of festivals and premieres. The office is located off Old St in London and there is a flexible model being trialled, not all staff will be in all days but there will be a good cross-section from Sales, Production, Theatrical, Home Entertainment and Marketing in during the week.

Occasionally, the entire team will go on away days as team building exercises, attendance will be required and it will be considered a full working day. If the venue is outside zone 2 then travel will be pre-arranged.

Dogwoof is a documentary film and TV distributor, producer and sales agent based in London.

We buy and sell (globally) the finest fiction from around the world and have recently started a production arm to gear the company towards vertical integration. We have released Oscar and BAFTA winning films and released the UK’s highest grossing documentaries in 2018 and 2019.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: searching and saving of press cuttings, researching press contacts or partner organisations, contacting press and partners for coverage, assisting writing press releases, assisting creating press notes, copy editing, assisting clip selection, assisting image selection, replying to journalist queries, signing in press screenings and general admin related to the Dogwoof press office. There may be events which will require attendance and this will mean late evenings.

You must be aged 16-24 years old, and unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

No previous experience in a press office is required but the applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. For written skills, the applicant must have excellent spelling and grammar, and be able to write formal emails and letters with proficiency and speed. For verbal, the applicant must have a proactive approach to calling and contacting press and partners. There may be a face-to-face element ie. greeting journalists and working at premiere events.

Thoroughness and self-motivation is a requirement.
