British Youth Music Theatre (formerly Youth Music Theatre UK) is a national performing arts education charity that specialises in creating brand new music theatre.

This is a new role, created to provide additional support to our marketing department - 2021 is expected to be a very busy year for the organisation due to the postponement of our activities in 2020.

It is a fantastic opportunity for a young person aged 16-24, with little or no experience of working in marketing or theatre.

We work across the UK and Ireland with leading industry professionals to offer unique opportunities and high-quality training to young singers, actors, dancers and musicians as well as emerging artists and stage technicians.

As an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, BYMT is a youth theatre like no other putting young people at the centre of the creative process to produce vibrant, innovative and original works in some of the UK's top venues and festivals.

We work with people aged 11-21 from any and every background and our courses offer significant personal and educational benefits:

developing self-esteem as well as improving communication and team-work skills whilst working in a professional environment.

The Marketing Assistant will support the delivery of marketing and digital campaigns, duties shall include, but not be limited to:

Helping to maintain BYMT’s digital channels, including writing copy and preparing content for website.

Researching specific target markets

Visiting BYMT activities such as residential projects to capture content (photo and video).

The candidate will liaise with various departments, learning about the different aspects of theatre production, as well as our work as an educational youth charity.

You must be aged 16-24 years old, and unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

An interest in music and/or the arts and working with young people

Able to represent BYMT and follow the company code of conduct

Adaptable, determined and able to work well under pressure

Confident use of IT and able to work online effectively and responsibly (IDEAL not essential)

Able to use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel - IDEAL not essential)

Good communication (including clear written English)

We are looking for someone who is helpful and keen to learn.

People who are creative in some way, with good communication skills and an eye for detail, would do well in this role.

The right candidate could go on to a job in the theatre industry or transfer the experience to other roles in marketing or theatre.

This programme is being delivered as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.
