Denier Studio is a Knitwear Design Studio and Specialist Yarn Merchants based in Harringay, North London.

Founded by Laura Newton, Central Saint Martins alumni.

Our dual studio & shop space specialises in the making of sustainable limited edition knitwear as well as the retailing of industry surplus yarns.

Duties include:

Overseeing new stock arrivals, sending out orders, updating inventory, labelling yarns, assisting with sourcing and curating yarn selections.

As well as assisting with design and knit sampling when the shop is quiet.

You will learn about yarn counts, how to knit with various materials, as well as getting an insight into how running a web shop works.

You will learn about knitwear manufacturing and the design process from selecting yarns to marketing finished products.

You must be aged 16-24 years old, and unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

This role also asks that you have:

  • An interest in textiles and knitwear is a must
  • A knitwear degree is preferred, but you do not need to be an expert knitter, just a keen eye for colour and texture and be willing to learn the basics
  • Knowledge of domestic knit machines, dubied machines, hand knitting is desirable

  • The candidate should also be computer literate - familiar with excel, word, ideally indesign
  • Any experience with Shopify is great - the platform we sell on
  • We are looking for someone with enthusiasm towards craftsmanship, and with the ability to think on your feet and learn quickly

We are a small team so we expect the candidate to work well within a team and turn up with a positive attitude.

This programme is being delivered as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.

To be eligible to apply you must be aged 18 – 24 and claiming universal credit.
