The role

This year, the National Trust has a new strategy for its work in London. Part of this strategy is about urban green space and working to enable more people to reap the benefits of it. In 2019 – 2020, they’re developing creative initiates for three major projects – celebrating 125 years of the National Trust, the National Park City Campaign, and the House of Wayward Plants recycling scheme.

The trainee recruited for this role will work between the London Creative Team and Morden Hall Park on community engagement, digital communications, and conservation activities

The National Trust is a heritage charity that protects coastline, forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages, historic houses, gardens, mills and pubs. They restore them, protect them and open them up to everyone to enjoy. They have over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments gardens and parks and nature reserves.

Person specification

  • No previous paid experience is necessary, however it’s important that applicants are able to demonstrate an interest in the arts and heritage sector through volunteering, self-initiated projects, great research, or demonstration of transferable skills. We want people who can show their motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to developing a career in the arts and heritage sectors
  • We are always keen to receive applications from people who are currently underrepresented in the creative and cultural sectors. This includes people from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background; D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people; those from the LGBTQ+ community, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
  • We are much more interested in your potential than we are in your academic qualifications, and therefore do not require a minimum formal qualification for these traineeships. We would steer postgraduates away from applying - this is a Level 3 qualification and as a postgraduate degree is Level 6 or above, it is not likely to be the most appropriate experience for you.
